Entered into history...
J.R.R. Tolkien gave a lecture at the University of St. Andrews on March 8, 1939. The title of the lecture was "On Fairy-Stories." In it, he analyses the fairy-story, and points out that all the good ones have a common theme: pain that turns to joy through a redemptive act. He believed that this was a common theme for a reason, but of course, he says, all of these stories are fiction--they never happened. Except one. One of them entered into history.

The Text:
The peculiar quality of the 'joy' in a successful fantasy can thus be explained as a sudden glimpse of the underlying truth. It is not only that consolation for the sorrow of the world, but an answer to that question
is it true?
In 'eucatastrophy' we see in a brief vision that the answer may be greater - it may be a far-off gleam of evangelium in the real world...The Gospels contain a fairy-story, or a story of a larger kind which embraces all fairy-stories...But this story has
entered into history.
