Introduction

 

1999 B.C.

The Tower of Babel is built; This is just a placeholder/approximate date for the Biblical account of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11; We know it is after the worldwide flood of Noah, but before the Abraham left Ur of the Chaldees with his family to set out for the land of Canaan (Side note: It is worth knowing that the UN Building in New York is modeled after the Tower of Babel in _____ painting, make of that what you will)  

1875 B.C.

Shem, Noah's son, is alive, and Abraham is his many times great grandson, and he would have told him the flood story

Elohim makes his covenant with Abraham, who is 75 years old when he leaves Haran (Unwrapping the Pharaohs pg. 205); Genesis 21:5, Exodus 6:4 and Galatians 3:16-17 indicate that this covenant was made 430 years before the Exodus from Egypt

 

1874 B.C.

Shem, Noah's son, is still alive

Abraham goes to Egypt to escape the famine in Canaan shortly after God makes a covenant with him (Gen. 12:10), unsure of actual year he traveled there though,

“Josephus wrote that Abraham ‘communicated to them arithmetic, and delivered to them the science of astronomy; for before Abram came into Egypt they were unacquainted with those parts of learning; for that science came from the Chaldeans into Egypt.’ So Abraham may have helped the Egyptians to achieve the mathematical accuracy that is found in Khufu’s pyramid’

Khufu (known to the Greeks as Cheops - pronounced Kee-ops) built the biggest pyramid of them all at 751 feet at its base and originally stood 479 feet high, so many tourists fell to their deaths or were badly injured that climbing the pyramid is forbidden (Unwrapping the Pharaohs pg. 38)

 

1850 B.C.

Isaac is born to Abraham (Unwrapping the Pharaohs pg. 205, Gen. 25:26)

 

1800 B.C.

Shem, Noah's grandson, dies 500 years after the worldwide flood; Abraham is Shem's many times great grandson; Perhaps Shem's brothers, Japheth and Ham also died around this time?

From Ham descended the Egyptians and the Canaanites

The Sumerian King List is inscribed on a clay prism; On it, there is a record of 8 kings ruling in Sumer before the Great Flood (The Sumerian King List is held by the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England, it was presented to the museum by Herbert Weld-Blundell in 1923)

Sumerian Flood Story is recorded on a clay tablet in cuneiform (Sumerian writing) somewhere between the 19^th – 18^th centuries B.C.; (The tablet is now held by the British Museum)  

 

1790 B.C.

Jacob is born (Unwrapping the Pharaohs pg.205)
