"The Inkwell" is the name of a Windmill.

In the Lands Within, there are several windmills. So many in fact, that they call the area north of the redwoods, "The Milling Country." Now, every miller is proud of their windmill that's been handed down to them from generation to generation, but Meridian Dashlade is probably the proudest and the most biased toward hers. The Inkwell is not just her family's business, but it's like an old friend that tells her many stories--some she's not even sure are real.

So, if you're looking for the large brass key to The Inkwell, it's most likely hanging from Meridian's apron as she goes about her work on every level of her beloved windmill. The silky scarf is just what she'd tie up her hair with, too, and the frosted inkwell both represents the name of her windmill, as well as what she'd have on her desk to write letters. And the pin she'd wear to the basket dances, it's festive and just her personality!
