1950-1959 A.D. - When We Started Watching TV

My mom grew up in the 1950s.

In fact, her 1950s are like my 1990s. They were her grade school, Jr. High and High School years. The music, the movies, even the politics (which she was unaware of), shaped her younger years.

What decade did your mom grow up in? It's fun to compare your "school days decade" with those that raised you, or have a strong influence on you even today.

Quick Note: As I've been researching the 1950s, it seems that a lot of what started simmering in this decade, boiled over in the 2020s, but not all of it in obvious ways. I'll do my best to explain what I mean as I add more and more onto this page. Hopefully, the picture will start to come into focus.

Jan Hendrik Oort predicts that a shell of rocky ice balls, the breeding ground of long-period comets, should orbit the sun at an extreme distance, up to 100,000 AU, although the cloud has not been seen by any telescope, the trajectory of comets such as Hale-Bopp through the solar system backs up this claim (National Geographic Encyclopedia of Space, Pg. 115) (Photo: A "map" of the solar system showing the placement of the Oort Cloud, as well as the space probe Voyager 1 that will be launched in the year 1977)

“By the early 1950s, in the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge, [Francis] Crick began his research on the DNA structure with James Watson, who shared the same interest as Crick in genetics and studying the structure of DNA…During this time, Maurice Wilkins and Rosalind Franklin, researches at King’s College in London, obtained images from the X-ray diffraction they performed on DNA fibers. Franklin’s X-ray photographs had established unequivocally the structure of DNA” https://stmuscholars.org/watson-and-crick-the-discovery-of-the-dna-structure/

Winfried Otto Schumann, a German physicist, begins studying the theoretical aspects of the global resonances of the earth-ionosphere waveguide system (today known as the Schumann Resonances), between 1952 and 1954, Schumann, together with H.L. König, attempt to measure the resonant frequencies (although it wasn’t until measurements made by Balser and Wagner in 1960-1963 that adequate analysis techniques were available to extract the resonance information from the background noise); Since then, there has been an increasing interest in the Schumann resonances in a wide variety of fields, according to NASA, there are about 2,000 thunderstorms on the earth at any given moment, with 50 flashes per second; The amazing thing is, these scientists will discover that the Schuman Resonance (or earth resonance) is the same as the frequency of human Alpha brain waves, which are our awake-but-resting brain waves; The Schuman Resonance is often referred to as EARTH'S HEARTBEAT

Pember’s book Earth’s Earliest Ages, in which he begins by saying that England is in danger of becoming paganistic, “England is neither all the world nor is isolated from the rest of the world. Politically, economically, intellectually, and also spiritually the world situation is fast being unified. Satan is aiming at, and working for, one universal kingdom that is to be avowedly under the sovereignty of his nominee, the Man of Sin, Antichrist. To accomplish this grand end, it will be indispensable that those lands where the gospel has had public influence shall again be paganized. At this point England stands in the greatest danger as a prime point of attack by the powers of darkness…” (Earth’s Earliest Ages, 283), It is worth noting that at this time, the Secret Society that had begun with Cecil Rhodes in the 1890’s has now been in power behind the scenes for quite some time; Their aim is to bring the entire world under the banner of Britain (See the book The Anglo American Establishment for a detailed account of their group and its reach into the governments of the world)

After decades of work, “J.C. Kendrew determined the structure of the protein myoglobin using X-ray crystallography; finally, a technique showed the detailed structure of one of the basic components of life. And what was seen? Once again, more complexity. Before the determination of myoglobin’s structure, it was thought that proteins would turn out to be simple and regular structures, like salt crystals…As a result of the X-ray work of Kendrew on proteins and (most famously) Watson and Crick on DNA, for the first time biochemists actually knew the shapes of the molecules that they were working on. The beginning of modern chemistry can be dated to that time. Advances in physics and chemistry, too, have spilled over and created a strong synergism for research on life.” (DBB 12)
